Nursing / Feeding

I was so unprepared for breastfeeding and everything that comes along with it. I highly recommend meeting with a lactation consultant. For last minute sessions, Nest Collaborative was a great resource. If you have access to a local, in person lactation consultant (that will come to your home!), even better. If you’re in Chicago, Juli is a magician.

Medela Manual Pump

I found the Medela + Haaka combo to be the least intimidating, most effective pump process if you’re looking to get through the first week of feeding, and occasionally pump moving forward. This worked perfectly for my situation, but if you’re planning to exclusively pump, this will get tedious.

Colostrum Collector Kit

This was essential in getting us through the first few days of feeding

Dr. Brown’s Glass Bottles

We tried a few different bottles and these were the winner!

Haaka Manual Pump

To collect on the other side

Silverette Nipple Covers

Soothing and worth it!

My Brest Friend

We usually nurse with no pillow, but we have this one and it’s great for longer feeds

Nursing Pads

Super absorbent nursing pads to be worn inside your nursing bra to prevent leaking

Wabi Sterilizer

A few people recommended this sterilizer, but we opted for a more affordable option at first, which ended up being finicky and not working well. If you recommended the Wabi.. you were right! Thank you!

Medela Nipple Shield

Another essential for us weeks 0-2
